About the 2014 Editorial Calendar
The 2014 AACE International Cost Engineering journal Editorial Calendar reflects a shift in focus from prior years. This year, we will be publishing a variety of subject or topic areas of technical papers in each of the 6 issues. In prior years, we grouped subject and topic areas together and had one primary focus for each issue. The 2014 change is designed to give readers more variety and try and position each issue to have content specific to a cross section of the AACE membership.
We will kick off the year with some of our top rated papers from the 2013 Annual Meeting in Washington, DC. We will select from the following six papers. Printing costs somewhat restrict us to a set page count per issue, and papers tend to vary in length and page count. Our plan is to offer additional bonus content throughout the year by including some technical content in the bi-monthly Source magazine, as well as referring print issue readers to the AACE website for additional content offerings.
Each issue of the Cost Engineering journal goes to the printer by mid month prior to the issue date. Please have any request for coverage, inclusion of content, submitted no later than the first of the month prior to the requested issue. If Publications will need to create content, please make your request as soon as possible to provide adequate time to develop a quality article. The Cost Engineering Journal Editorial Review Committee requires that all technical papers first be presented at an AACE Annual Meeting. Top scoring papers are then considered for publication. Abstracts are only accepted during July and August in the annual “Call for Papers.”
January/February 2014 options include:
In prior years, I have not outlined an editorial calendar for the Source magazine. In an effort to assist in-house planning and to assist Garth with any advertising requests, I have outlined the following calendar for 2014.
This is a preliminary calendar. Please remember that specific issue themes are subject to change as the year progresses and specific needs arise.
Useful Information About the Source magazine
Please note that each issue has a continuing series of standing features, including the President’s Message, Section Best Practices, Women in Project Controls profile; Young Professional Profile; Section news, etc.
I’ve talked with Noah on an idea to pull one of more section news items where a section or sections have had a particularly interesting program and do a special layout/design that highlights these.
We will continue and expand executive articles, special features/special focus articles and columns. The “Outside the Box” series allows us to include professional video links and have been well received.
We will continue to periodically list and recognize our COMP members; coming events, contacts, Federal Roundtable events; In Memorial listings; Next Month in the CE journal preview; online store; Regions and regional events/news.
Each issue goes out for Nxtbook creation by mid month prior to the issue date. Please have any request for coverage, inclusion of content, submitted no later than the first of the month prior to the requested issue. If Publications will need to create content, please make your request as soon as possible to provide adequate time to develop a quality article.
