 The event will be the first educational conference sponsored by AACE International outside of North America and represents one of the several initiatives AACE International committed to as part of its strategic plan to expand international benefits and services. Currently, 27% of AACE members are outside of North America and UAE is now the largest AACE International section with over 515 members.
The two-day event will feature a keynote general session followed by two tracks of technical presentations based upon peer-reviewed papers. The technical presentation selection process will be modeled after the process used by the AACE International Technical Board for the Annual Meeting and will require potential presenters to submit an abstract of their proposed presentation for consideration. The deadline for submitting an abstract for the Dubai meeting will be announced at a future date.
Registration for the meeting will be $650 for members, $750 for non-members. Registration fee includes access to the two-days of educational sessions, two evening networking receptions, two breakfasts, two lunches plus coffee breaks and digital copies of all presentations and papers. The base hotel room rate at the Hyatt Regency Dubai will be $215 (US) per night. Online registration for the meeting will is open. Richard K. Faris, is Senior Vice President for Oracle’s Primavera Global Business Unit. The business unit was formed when Oracle acquired Primavera Systems, Inc. in November 2008, and focuses on project portfolio management solutions for project-intensive industries. As co-founder and executive vice president of Primavera, Mr. Faris led product development at Primavera for more than 25 years. His technical and product vision enabled Primavera to keep pace with innovations in computer hardware and software by developing and shipping more 60 releases of twelve distinct project portfolio management products.
Before founding Primavera, Mr. Faris spent 13 years planning, designing, managing, and controlling capital projects in the transportation industry and developing transportation network simulation systems. Mr. Faris was Vice President at Day and Zimmermann, an engineering consulting firm headquartered in Philadelphia, and was a project manager for the City of Philadelphia and at Booz Allen Hamilton, a management consulting firm.
Mr. Faris Has spoken at Primavera User Meetings in Russia, China, Australia, Dubai, UK, France, Germany, Norway, Denmark, Singapore, Malaysia, Mexico, and the U.S.
Mr. Faris is a registered professional engineer and is an active member of several professional societies, including AACE International, The Project Management Institute (PMI), and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). He is a founding Director of the PMI College of Scheduling. Mr. Faris earned Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Civil Engineering from Villanova University.
