Valerie Venters
CCC, has over 20 years of experience in cost and schedule
management. She joined AACE International in 1997 and became
certified in 2000. In 2001, she joined the Certification Board and
was appointed Certification Board Chair in 2004. Valerie served on
the AACE Board of Directors as Region 5 Director during 2005-2007,
while remaining very active in the Houston Gulf Coast Section of
AACE, enjoying networking/sharing ideas with other professionals
in the industry. She is currently President of Venters Consulting
LLC, a company specializing in Project Management, Cost Control,
Planning, and Scheduling. Most of her consulting work is with the
Oil and Gas companies in the Houston area. Valerie is married to a
Planner/Scheduler in the same line of work and together they make a
“dynamic duo” – she working the Cost Management, he working the
Schedule Management.
Julie Owen PSP CCC,
has over nineteen years of experience in project management, project
control, cost engineering, scheduling, contract administration and
schedule delay claim analysis. She currently works as scheduling
supervisor for NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory with primary
responsibility for managing scheduling on the Mars and Deep Space
Network programs for NASA. Prior to JPL, Julie worked for fourteen
years in the engineering, procurement, and construction industry on
public works projects building governmental and institutional
facilities. She worked her way up the management ladder holding
positions such as assistant project manager, project engineer,
construction manager, scheduler, cost engineer and intern engineer.
Julie joined AACE International in 1994 and became certified in
2007. Julie currently instructs the PSP certification prep course on
behalf of the AACE International certification board. Julie is past
president of the Southern California section of AACE International.
Julie received her masters degree in business administration from
University of Redlands and her bachelors degree in construction
science from Texas A&M University.
Ginette Basak P.Eng.,
is Project Controls Manager at Fluor Canada. She has twenty-seven years of
engineering and construction project controls experience in various
industries, including petrochemical, gas, heavy oil sands, pipelines,
mining, satellite communications and aerospace manufacturing, with locations
spanning the globe. In addition to EPC contractor experience, she gained an
Owner’s perspective overseeing capital projects totaling $1 billion annually
at TransCanada PipeLines. She has presented papers at conferences in
Ljubljana, Cape Town, New Orleans, Orlando, Melbourne, Helsinki and
Rotterdam. She is the first female Chairman of the International Cost
Engineering Council (ICEC) and also an Honorary Life Member of AACE
International. She received her MBA in organizational dynamics from the
University of Calgary and a bachelor of civil engineering from Concordia
University in Montreal. Outside the workplace, she shares her passion for
jazz and Inuit art with her husband and their 15-year-old daughter.
Clive Francis CCC, has served most of his professional career both on the local and
association levels at AACE International. He has held a number of positions
including president, vice-president TEC and vice-president administration, as
well as section president. He has also been on the board for a number of
years. Currently he works for Black & Veatch.
Marlene
Hyde CCE, has over 30 years' experience in project controls,
estimating, scheduling, and project management. She has been active
in AACE for over 15 years and was certified as a CCE in 1993. She
has held a number of positions in the local section, including
president for 2 years, and served nationally on the Certification
Board. In 2006, she was elected to serve as the Vice-President for
Finance for AACE International. She works for Parsons
Transportation Group as the Regional Project Controls Manager, and
is responsible for a 9-state region in the southeastern United
States. Her career has included constructing hospitals,
microelectronics buildings, offices, nanotechnology facilities, and
airports. She was the first woman to obtain a master's degree in
construction engineering from the University of New Mexico. Marlene
is married, lives in Florida, and has a grown daughter who lives in
the United Kingdom.
Vera Lovejoy
CCE PSP, is the Director of Region 6, was the Chair of the Planning and
Scheduling Committee (2003-2004) and Co Chair of the PSP Task Force. Before
that, she served as Certification Chair and Newsletter Editor for the Southern
California Section. She has led project controls teams and served as a
specialist on a variety of power, water and transportation projects in the
United States. She has 19 years of experience in project management and is
proficient in project cost and scheduling. She is the happily-married mother
of two grown sons and holds a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from the
University of California, Irvine.
Alexia Nalewaik CCE MRICS, is senior manager in charge of the
Construction Audit & Advisory practice at Moss Adams LLP. She has more than 15
years of experience in the public and private sectors, in the areas of project
controls, owner’s representative services, risk management, construction
audit, and dispute consulting. Alexia received her master’s degree in
structural engineering from the University of Southern California, and a
bachelor’s degree in physics from the University of Dallas. She is a channel
swimmer, loves to cook, and has turned her front & back yards into
permaculture gardens. Alexia is “Mom” to three dogs named Lambic, Miss Pimms,
and Marsala.
Carole Venters CCC, has over 20 years of experience in Cost and Scheduling
Management. She joined AACE International in 2000 and became a
Certified Cost Consultant (CCC) in 2004. She has served as an
active member of the Certification Board since the fall of 2004.
Carole has been very active in the Rocky Mountain Section from the
time she joined, serving first as an associate member of the RMS
Board of Directors in 2001. Once Carole received her certification,
she jumped into the role of officer first as the Section Treasurer,
then Secretary and finally serving as the Section President in
2006-2007. Carole currently works for Jacobs Engineering. She has
most recently been traveling across the USA training some of the
various Jacobs offices on new Project Controls software as well as
working directly with the IT Programmers in the phasing in of new
modules to the software.
Kathy Garza, is a Bechtel Project Controls Analyst working with BWXT at the Y12 National Security Complex. She holds an AA degree in Banking & Finance, and a BS degree in International Management, with minors in Operations Management and HR Management. She has been in the Project Controls field for 14 years, and is a Certified P3 Trainer, and a Certified Cobra Cost Management Trainer. She has been a member of AACE since 1992, was certified as a CCC in 2004, and was the recipient of the Outstanding Section President's award in 2005. Kathy has been married for almost 35 years, and has three sons and three grandchildren.
