50 WOMEN NAMED IN 2005 KEY WOMEN IN ENERGY–GLOBAL AWARDS

February 8, 2006 - Fifty women, representing at least 28 nations/nationalities, were announced today as winners of the prestigious 4th annual Key Women in Energy™-Global awards. The annual honors program identifies, recognizes and honors women who made recent significant individual contributions or achievements to the energy sector, or to businesses that support energy. Awards intentionally cross the entire energy sector value chain – upstream, midstream, downstream, retail, policy, law and education, and support for advances in energy engineering, science and technology.

Outstanding activities during 2003-2005 were recognized in one of seven categories: Pathfinders/Trailblazers, Visionary, Leadership, Teamwork, Wisdom, Innovation/Creativity and Potential (industry new-hires since January 2001). Honorees selected by this year’s panel of distinguished global judges were overwhelmingly senior executives. More than one-third were named into the ‘Leadership’ category. One honoree in each category will be designated in late spring as the overall category ‘winner’ at a global awards ceremony (details to follow).

“Three immediate trends are highlighted - increased executive workforce globalization, organizational leadership and board representation,” said Linda Rader, Executive Director of U.S.-based not-for-profit Energy Leaders Council that administers the awards. Many are presidents of national or international industry organizations and may also sit on one or multiple boards of directors of major and/or global businesses. Many live and/or work in a different country than they did just two years ago. Several maintain dual office locations. Many are fluently multi-lingual.

Three 2005 global honorees received recognition for a second consecutive year – Linda Cook, Royal Dutch Shell Group of Companies, The Netherlands; Ieda Correia Gomes, BP, United Kingdom; and Alejandra Nicoli, Transportadore de Gas del Norte, Argentina.

The 3 Key Women in Energy awards combine public and private sponsorship support, plus cross-industry organizational and media support. 2005 Global sponsors include Bozell and Lukoil Overseas, Ltd. Supporting media include Calgary-based Alberta Venture magazine; London-based Commodities Now magazine; Terrebonne (Québec City)-based Electric Energy T&D magazine; Russia Petroleum Investor, Russia/Eurasia Executive Guide and Middle East Business Strategies, published by WorldTrade Executives, Inc.; and World Oil, Hydrocarbon Processing, and Petroleum Economist’s Women’s Global Leadership Conference in Energy & Technology.

Global honorees are known to live, work or hold citizenship in at least one the following 28 countries: Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Canada, People’s Republic of China, Colombia, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Kenya, Malaysia, Namibia, Nigeria, Norway, The Netherlands, Russian Federation, Republic of South Africa, Sweden, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States of America, Venezuela or Wales.

More than 200 women may be recognized in 2006 via three separate awards: Key Women in Energy-Global (since 2001), Key Women in Energy-Americas (since 2003) and the inaugural 2006 Key Women in Energy-Europe. Previous honorees are available on www.keywomeninenergy.com, as are online nominations and deadlines for all three awards. PDF format French-, Dutch-, German-, Spanish- and Arabic-language nomination forms are available upon request and will be posted online shortly.
