Who we are


AACE International is a 501(c)(3) non-profit professional association. Since 1956, AACE International has provided its members with the resources they need to enhance their performance and ensure continued growth and success. With over 8,600 members world-wide, AACE International serves total cost management professionals in disciplines such as: cost engineering, cost estimating, planning and scheduling, decision and risk management, project management, project control, cost/schedule control, earned value management, claims, and more. AACE International has members in 87 countries and cover 80 local sections.

AACE has been certifying individuals since 1976. AACE offers the following certifications: Certified Cost Consultant™ (CCC™) / Certified Cost Engineer™ (CCE™), Certified Cost Technician™ (CCT™), Certified Estimating Professional™ (CEP™), Certified Forensic Claims Consultant™ (CFCC™), Earned Value Professional™ (EVP™), and Planning & Scheduling Professional™ (PSP™). AACE’s CCC/CCE, CCT, EVP, and PSP certifications are independently accredited by the Council of Engineering and Scientific Specialty Boards.


Section 1. The name of this organization is AACE INTERNATIONAL, INC., hereinafter referred to as “AACE” or “the Association.” AACE stands for the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering International. The legal corporate name is AACE INTERNATIONAL, INC.*

Section 2. The Association is dedicated to the tenets of furthering the concepts of total cost management and cost engineering. Total cost management is the effective application of professional and technical expertise to plan and control resources, costs, profitability, and risk. Simply stated, it is a systematic approach to managing cost throughout the life cycle of any enterprise, program, facility, project, product, or service. This is accomplished through the application of cost engineering and cost management principles, proven methodologies, and the latest technology in support of the management process.

Section 3. Total cost management is that area of engineering practice where engineering judgment and experience are utilized in the application of scientific principles and techniques to problems of business and program planning; cost estimating; economic and financial analysis; cost engineering; program and project management; planning and scheduling; and cost and schedule performance measurement and change control.

*While our official name is AACE International, we started as the American Association of Cost Engineering and then became the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering before adopting the current official title of AACE International.
