February 2013 Source Now Available

February 1, 2013

Your February 2013 issue of the AACE International Source magazine is posted and available for viewing on our website.

With this issue, Source is beginning its second year of production as a bi-monthly, all electronic online magazine. Source features popular features previously included in the Cost Engineering journal. In 2012, the CE journal went to bi-monthly print and online production and content returned to being almost entirely peer reviewed technical papers. Source posts in the even numbered months and you will receive an e-mail notice of each posting.

If you failed in 2012 to familiarize yourself with Source magazine, all the prior issues are still available for your viewing on our website. The Source magazine was introduced in February 2012 and each of the six issues is highlighted by a new installment of the reader popular President’s Message, a new profile of our Women in Project Controls and of our Young Professional profile.

Each issue opens using Nxtbook automatic page turning software and provides the reader with a variety of technology features designed to enhance your reading experience. However, a PDF version is also available. Just click the PDF button at the top right once the Nxtbook version opens on your computer, laptop, or other electronic reader.

The current issue highlights two AACE webinars that readers can register for. First is a Michael Nosbisch presentation on Feb. 12 titled, “The (Whole) Truth About ANSI-compliant EVMS.” The second is a March 21 webinar on, “Techniques for Choosing and Implementing the Most Appropriate Earned Value Technique for Objective Performance Measurement.” Webinar presenters will be Kimberly Meyer, EVP, and Kim Hunter, EVP.

The February Source also includes a 2012 Year End update giving readers a look back at the AACE International successes that include record membership growth, our first international TCM Conference in Dubai, certification exams being offered as computer-based examinations, the launching of an AACE Online Learning Center, and preparations for the 2013 Annual Meeting in Washington, DC.

Another AACE success has been our Mentoring program and author Dr. Matt Starcevich presents an article on, “The Art of Questioning” as it relates to mentoring.

Other features of the 2013 February Source include an Outside the Box video presentation on, “Feats of Memory Anyone Can Do.” Included are photos and an article on the second AACE Federal Agency Roundtable in Washington, DC. There’s info on a special government-oriented technical presentations at the DC Annual Meeting. These are an outgrowth of the Federal Agency Roundtable meetings.

Don’t miss the announcement about Engineers Week 2013 activities, events you can participate in, and a solid overview of the annual Engineers Week programs. There’s a special feature on a risk management seminar that was at Concordia University, as well as a lot of general AACE International association news and informational useful to total cost management professionals as you work to advance your careers and network with other TCM professionals.

Source magazine is just one of a growing list of resources available from AACE International, the Authority for Total Cost Management. Check out this just posted issue by clicking here.
