Deadline for AACE Scholarship Application is February 15

January 8, 2013

Students enrolled in programs that include study of topics included in the total cost management body of knowledge are invited to participate in the annual scholarship competition sponsored by AACE International. AACE International is a professional engineering society whose members are in the fields of cost engineering, cost estimating, project management, project control, and planning & scheduling that comprise total cost management. AACE International offers a scholarship program that enables students to compete for scholarships ranging from $2,000 to $8,000 each year. Separate competitions are held for students enrolled in US and Canadian universities and colleges. Interested students should consult the association’s website at http://www.aacei.org/awards/scholarships/.

Students must complete an online application form and submit it by February 15th for the first round of judging. This application includes an official transcript and an endorsement form. Requests for both of these will be emailed by AACE International to the contacts identified by the student. Judging will be completed in mid- April, and notifications sent out in May. The scholarship recipients will receive their funds in August.

AACE International also provides students interested in a career in cost management or project controls with information about career options available in those fields. Descriptions of career options may be found in the association’s Career Center. CNN Money, a website formed by CNN, Money and Fortune magazines, recently released its 2012 report on the Top 100 Jobs in America. Jobs are ranked based upon compensation, increased demand and growth potential, perceived working condition factors such as stress, flexibility and benefit to society. Six of those jobs were areas directly involved in the practice of total cost management.
