Board of Directors Recommends Change to Constitution
November 7, 2012
At their October 20-21, 2012 meeting in Orlando, FL, the AACE International Board of Directors approved a motion to recommend for approval by the membership the following amendment to the Constitution, Article III, Section 1. The language to be added at the end of that Section would read: “The Board of Directors may create additional membership categories as required to advance AACE’s interests throughout the world.”
Amendments to the Constitution and/or Bylaws require a two-thirds affirmative vote by the members voting in the 2013 balloting which will run from February 1 to March 15, 2013. The proposed amendment outlined above will be on the ballot along with recommendations from the Governance Task Force announced earlier in the year. .
If approved by the membership in 2013 balloting, the Constitution would read as follows:
Article III, Section 1. The membership grades shall consist of Members, Associate Members, and Student Members. Fellows, Emeritus Members, and Life Members shall be included within the grade of Member. The Board of Directors may create additional membership categories as required to advance AACE’s interests throughout the world.
The amendment is designed to provide the Association with more flexibility to address opportunities for membership growth worldwide. AACE International recently passed 8,000 members worldwide.
