Formal Statement on Social Media

April 12, 2011

The AACE International Board of Directors has adopted a formal statement regarding social media during its April 8-9, 2011 meeting in Montreal, Canada. Noting that the growing number and complexity of various social media sites has made it impractical for the association to monitor and engage all the numerous postings affecting AACE International interests, the Board of Directors has clarified its official stance regarding social media through the following statement:
“LinkedIn, Facebook [or other social media outlet] discussions are not official AACE International communications and the Association does not necessarily agree or endorse the ideas presented or topics offered for discussion nor do we officially monitor these sites. While AACE International Board of Directors members and staff may occasionally review and comment on a posting as individuals, such postings do not necessarily reflect the AACE International’s official position on the matter under discussion. Individuals wanting to make a comment to or present a question to the AACE International leadership or staff should submit those directly to AACE International headquarters using the contact information available at aacei.org/contact.shtml. Please do not rely on a reply to a specific posting on any discussion forum.”
