Change to Reciprocity Agreement Regarding Certifications Between RICS and AACE International

January 26, 2011

AACE International and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) have been in discussion with regards to unilateral deviations from the reciprocity agreement by RICS-MENEA (Middle East, North East, and Africa) in the processing of reciprocal certifications. Those deviations in the process by RICS-MENEA began without consultation with AACE International and we believe constitute a violation of the reciprocal agreement. RICS has been alerted to these deviations and our interpretation of those actions and RICS has advised AACE that they would like to restructure the reciprocity agreement.

While AACE International is prepared to enter into discussion with RICS to see if a new reciprocity agreement can be reached, in the interim the agreement is no longer considered to be in effect. As a result, AACE International will not consider individuals attempting to qualify under the agreement unless a new agreement has been reached.

The AACE International leadership regrets any inconvenience this may create for our members or RICS members impacted and encourage you to direct your concerns to the RICS-MENEA who initiated the changes .
