1. In order to possibly promote increased attendance, would you be supportive of a more affordable Annual Meeting registration fee scheme for the members?
For a lot of individual members it is very costly to join the annual meeting, especially when you are coming from out of the US. Travel and lodging can be very high and therefore we have to make the fee more attractive.

2. How would you propose membership be increased in North America and internationally?
I like to speak for the new region 9 and for this region we have to start with people who know the local circumstances because Europe and Africa have a lot of different cultures and languages.

3. What do you see as the two most significant challenges facing your position and how would you address these two challenges
1) to get local organizations started so we can put region 9 on the map. My first idea is to start with Africa, western Europe and Eastern Europe. From this we can have a better and more efficient way of approaching individual members and start local education.

4. What are your thoughts on the AACE International membership category of “Emeritus”?
I like the idea in having an Emeritus because it will also give the profession a higher status in the world of industry.

5. What do you see is working right with the association today; in general or specifically?
The sharing of knowledge is one of the most valuable aspects of the association today.

6. What do you see as needing improvement with the association today; in general or specifically?
Education and exam preparation is something which can be improved. Exams are on some points very US oriented and difficult to understand for people not coming from the US.

7. For the areas where you see the association needs improvement, how should they be addressed?
The association needs more local representatives from outside the US because there is a huge potential in Europe and Africa but you have to understand their culture and that the differences can be large.

8. What value to the association does the Approved Education Provider (AEP) program provide?
The AEP has already a status but to be certified there can be some improvements by creating better guidelines to the content of courses. Assuring quality is a topic which should be addressed to maintain high quality standards for the profession.

9. How would you propose the value of the AEP program to AACE members be increased?
The fact that there are approved education providers of the AACE is already an added value to its members. As mentioned above, making sure the quality of these courses is of high standards will further increase the added value to its members.

10. What are your thoughts relative to the association expanding internationally, including into China?
The association can expand internationally by paying more attention to the international regions because there is a need for knowledge and to get certified in the profession of cost engineering. Also due to the crisis companies need more and better cost engineers so it is not a matter do we need to expand but how to expand because of the need.
