About the Program
The AACE International Education Board has been looking
for on-line learning opportunities for our members, and is happy to announce that the
Supervisory Training Program (STPonline) presented by Construction Experts, Inc. is now
available through our website. The skills presented in this series of courses are
applicable to the needs of many AACE members. These courses are offered as a service to
our members, and their availability does not imply endorsement by the AACE International
Education Board.
All Classes Are Online
All classes in the program consist of one class each week
during the 10 week semester. Students are not required to attend class at specific times
but there will be a certain amount of work to be done each week.
This format of bringing online classes with current
information into the home is exciting and useful for the students. There is no more
convenient way to take college courses!
Students in this program must take charge of their own
education. Since there are no required class times, students must have the self-discipline
to make sure they do the class work and satisfy weekly participation requirements. Class
participation is asynchronous[1] and will occur in the form of bulletin board
postings.
[1] That means that class discussions consists of
comments posted by students at different times. You may log on to find that a classmate
has posed a question earlier in the day that you can answer. Your answer may occur several
hours or even days later. This is how asynchronous discussion works.
Courses are available on a semester basis. Click here for the current schedule.
These classes are for working adults who want to
take charge of their future and their careers.
Grading Policies
- Quizzes
Students will take occasional quizzes during the course. Students will have the
opportunity to practice taking quizzes before the actual quiz. Each quiz can be taken
twice with the higher of the two scores being the score recorded on the grade sheet.
- Class Participation
An important portion of the grade will be based upon
class participation. Students learn more when they discuss the subject at hand. You will
be given discussion questions based upon the topic to respond to and discuss with your
classmates. You will be asked to respond to other students questions when you have an
answer or an opinion to share.
The instructor will not grade you on grammar, spelling or proper word usage. The primary
concern is that you participate and explore the subjects with other students.
- Group Assignments
You may have the opportunity in some courses to work with your fellow students in small
discussion groups to discuss case studies and to work on class assignments.
- More Information
You will find more information about the grading and assignments inside the course
environment. Each course will have a complete syllabus including all assignments and the
point value of each assignment.
- How To Get A Good Grade
All you have to do is participate in class and do the assignments. A good grade is not
difficult to achieve if you pursue the course as designed. There is no reason why every
student in these classes cannot achieve a grade of A.
