Industry and government depend on the quality of AACE International certification programs to provide them indication of the qualifications and capabilities of certificants who will lead the cost and schedule management efforts on their projects. Therefore, AACE International has invested much in its certification examinations.
It is vital that the integrity of the certification examinations and processes be maintained to ensure that a certified individual properly represents the knowledge, skills, and abilities represented. In order to maintain and ensure the integrity of the AACE International certification exam process, the following minimum qualifications of proctors and process for the selection of proctors must be adhered to.
Proctoring certification exams is an excellent choice for gaining recertification credits. Currently, a person can claim 0.7 credits for each exam proctored.
Minimum Qualifications for Examination Proctors
In order to serve as a proctor for an AACE International certification exam, an individual must meet the following minimum qualifications:
Hold a current AACE® International certification in good standing, or be a current section officer in good standing as an AACE International member, or be a full-time faculty member in an institution of higher education in a field related to cost engineering;
Not be scheduled to sit for an exam in the exam session s/he is proposing to proctor;
Be available for a minimum of one-half day on exam day (full days are highly preferred);
Understand and be willing to sign the proctor’s affidavit, affirming that the proctor complied with the following:
That s/he followed the Proctor Guidelines exactly as specified;
That the proctors maintained visual observation of all candidates during the entire duration of the examination;
That the proctors ensured that there was at least one proctor in the examination room with the candidates at all times during the examination;
That there was no time during the examination when the examination room was without a proctor while the examination was being administered; and
That, to the best of the proctors’ knowledge, no sharing of exam answers between exam candidates took place, none of the candidates worked together during the exam session to arrive at exam answers, and no cheating on the part of any candidate occurred before, during or after the examination.
