Ken has 30 years of Cost Estimating, Project Controls and Project Management leadership, mentoring, training, design, implementation and consulting in various industries including Oil and Gas, Mining, Environmental Remediation and Protection, Aircraft and Spacecraft, Water/Wastewater Treatment, Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC), Design-Build and Information Security. Highly experienced in government (DoD, DOE, NPS, NSF) and commercial programs/projects, ranging from $50,000 to over $2 billion.

Ken has held numerous positions in AACE including TEC Vice President, Region 5 Director, and Section President and Vice President.  He is the editor of the EVP Study Guide, 2nd Edition, and has presented numerous technical papers and seminars at AACE conferences.  Ken initially became certified as a CCP in 1982.

Cokey is a Senior Certified Cost Engineer with over 30 years of experience in all aspects and divisions of estimating and project management. He has performed and managed estimating projects for a broad range of projects for the EPC, government/military, industrial and commercial sectors including a strong background with remediation. He has extensive experience preparing all levels of estimates: conceptual, schematic, design development, construction and final. He has conducted estimate and quality control reviews to ensure accurate submittals to clients, owners and stakeholders within time and budget constraints. Cokey also has a strong background with project controls and scheduling, value engineering, Earned Value Management, risk analysis, change order management, and conducting design charrettes. He has utilized multiple estimating and project controls software including MII, Success Estimator, Primavera, MS Project, Timberline, MC2 and MS Office. He currently holds a Secret Security Clearance.

Description and Learning Objectives
This course provides an overview of skills and knowledge of cost engineering. The course will cover basic concepts of estimating, planning and scheduling, cost control and forecasting, breakeven analysis, and productivity analysis. Professionals who attend this Review Course will gain a better understanding of some of the basic concepts of cost engineering. This course is also suitable for those who plan to take the CCP Certification Exam as it will enable attendees to be better prepared to take the exam beyond what they would likely achieve on their own. Each day's presentation covers subjects that are tested on the certification examination.

2.  Skills and Knowledge of Cost Engineering, 6th Ed
3.  CCP Certification Study Guide, 2nd Ed

If possible, attendees should read and workout some problems from the text to become relatively comfortable with the contents of these books. A review of college algebra, such as logarithms and exponents is recommended.

The books are not required for the course but are essential reference material for any cost engineer. You should bring a calculator with exponent and logarithm functions. A financial calculator is useful but not required.

Knowledge Areas:
This course will primarily address those areas where numerical problem solving is of important consideration. The expectation is that professionals who do not routinely solve such problems will find that review to be more worthwhile. These primary areas will include engineering economics, estimating, scheduling and related subjects.
