This course will enable attendees to improve their performance on
the Certification Examination beyond what they would likely achieve
without taking it. Professionals who attend this 4-day Certification
Review Course & Examination should be fairly well prepared to sit
for the examination before arrival. This course is not intended to
prepare a professional who routinely works in only one sub-element
of cost engineering to pass the challenging Certification
Examination, if they have done little study before the seminar.
Attendees should have read and worked some problems in Skills and
Knowledge of Cost Engineering, 5th ed Revised and Certification
Study Guide, 3rd ed, to become relatively comfortable with their
contents. They should also reacquaint themselves with college
algebra, such as logarithms and exponents. Ideally, they will have
completed at some time in the past a baccalaureate course in
business or engineering statistics, as well as engineering economy
or finance. Each day’s 5.5-hour presentation covers subjects that
are tested on the 2-hour Certification Examination part given later
that day. This allows the professional to focus on those particular
subjects, be tested on their skills and knowledge of those limited
subjects, and then move successively to other topics on later days –
rather than drawing upon the entire array of cost engineering skills
and knowledge by taking the entire Certification Examination on one
day.
As soon as registration is received, the attendee will be sent a
copy of Skills & Knowledge of Cost Engineering, 5th edition Revised
and Cert Exam Study Guide, 2nd edition. If you already own either or
both of these publications, please put a note on your registration
form, and the cost of the publications will be deducted from the
registration fee.
Attendees should bring both of these books to the course. Also bring
a calculator with exponent and logarithm functions that meets
certification examination specifications. A financial calculator is
useful but not required.
Skill Level: Intermediate
Who Would Benefit by Attending? Anyone who is qualified to sit for the
CCC/CCE Examination, but feels the need for a review of pertinent
topics.
Learning Objectives:
Probably the greatest benefit will derive from the learning objectives that
require demonstration of numerical problem-solving skills. Obviously, what
most benefits participants will vary with their backgrounds. The instructor
will stand ready to somewhat modify my presentation to better meet their
expressed concerns or demonstrated needs.
